A UK-based firm has landed a £12 million contract at Siemens offshore wind turbine blade factory in Alexandra Dock.

Neville Tucker Heating is set to carry out electrical and mechanical building services.

It will install humidity control and air conditioning as well as provide fit-out services for Siemens’ offices.

VolkerFitzpatrick, the contractor appointed by Siemens, sub-contracted the firm.

The factory will be used to manufacture 75m turbine blades for offshore wind farms.

Shaun Cray, Siemens’ General Manager for Real Estate and Construction, said: “The biggest benefit of our investment for the local economy and community is the 1,000 new jobs we will create in the blade factory and associated facilities.

“We are also committed, wherever possible, to working with businesses in the area and enabling further local jobs.”
