Brazil’s installed wind capacity has hit 7GW.
That’s according to the Brazil Wind Energy Association (ABEEolica) which also stated wind is now providing the equivalent to 5% of the nation’s power.
The report stated the wind capacity in the country is growing by about 1GW in seven months.
The mark has been reached after the installation of three new wind farms in Rio Grande do Norte state totaling 281 facilities across Brazil.
Elbia Silva Gannoum, President at ABEEolica said: “This is more energy for the country, a clean, competitive and sustainable generation giving the Brazilian energy matrix a complementary renewable source. The benefits provided by wind power are more significant every day, having benefits for the entire Brazilian electric system, from increasing operations to cost reductions.”
