Construction of a 156MW solar farm in Colorado has started.
The $1.5 billion (£0.96bn) Comanche Solar project is expected to generate more than 300GWh of energy per year – equivalent to powering around 30,000 homes.
It will reduce more than 478 million tons of carbon emissions and is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2016.
The electricity generated will be purchased by Public Service Company of Colorado.
The project is being developed by SunEdison, which claims it is the biggest solar farm in the region.
