Siemens has been awarded a contract for a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant in Qatar.
The engineering giant will deliver six gas and four steam turbines and 10 generators for the 2.5GW power plant located in the south of the country.
The firm claims the site is expected to deliver one quarter of the nation’s installed power generating capacity.
The facility will also have an integrated seawater desalination site which will produce up to 618 million litres of drinking water per day.
Comissioning of the entire project is scheduled for mid-2018.
