Drivers will benefit from a new LED lighting system on the A69 when work begins this week to replace the current street lights.

The work is being carried out during the evening to minimise the impact for drivers and will be completed by 16th October.

Twenty six new lighting columns are being installed at Bridge End Roundabout and 29 at Styford Roundabout.

In order to carry out the work, lane closures will be in place on the A69 on each side of the roundabouts from 6pm to 8am each night when the work starts on 17th August.

Highways England Project Manager Kyle Maylard said: “The new lights are more eco-friendly and will also improve light pollution.”

A spokesperson from Highways England told ELN: “We are renewing lighting columns along this stretch of the A69 and we are taking the opportunity to upgrade the lamps as part of the renewal work.

“We are putting in LED lamps as they are more energy efficient than the lamps that they are replacing.”
