Gas flows to the UK are lower, according to npower’s daily market report.

The country’s gas system is undersupplied and the linepack is forecast 6mcm short.

BBL flows are at 9mcm and Langeled at 55mcm.

Alex Guiot from npower’s Optimisation Desk said: “LNG send-out is stable at 36mcm and current forecasts suggest that we should see six tankers arrive in the UK in October with one of these having already arrived.”

The power system’s peak margin is forecast at 9GW.

Wind is generating 800MW.

Mr Guiot added: “We do not expect levels to pick up much over the next couple of days, therefore we are likely to see strong levels of gas-fired generation online to cover the shortfall.”

Brent oil is trading below $52 per barrel.
