The UK gas system is forecast to close 10mcm undersupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

Norwegian flows into the country have been reduced to 44mcm/day and Langeled flows are close to 14mcm.

Nicholas Morgan from the Optimisation Desk said: “We have seen Gassco extend gas cuts at Heimdal now to the 17th of August and we will also see Kollsnes flows cut as planned from the 13th to the 27th of August as outage season hits full swing.”

The UK Interconnector is exporting at 21mcm, flows into St Fergus are at zero and Holford is currently flowing at just below 22mcm.

On the power system, wind is generating below 1GW and solar is expected to reach 3.6GW today.

Mr Morgan added: “As a result we have seen the reliance on gas fired generation pick up today which is further adding to the tight gas system as power station gas demand is higher.”

Brent oil is trading at $44.54/bbl (£33.8/bbl).
