The UK gas system is 15mcm oversupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

That’s because demand is lower than seasonal normal levels as temperatures are higher.

Flows from Norway have been reduced due to some outages.

On the power system, the peak margin is expected to reach 9GW. Wind is generating 1.4GW but is forecast to reach 6.8GW tomorrow.

Bren oil is trading at $45.8/bbl (£35.2/bbl).

Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “This is helped by the US oil rig count set for biggest quarterly rise in two years. US drillers this week added oil rigs for the 12th week in the past 13 and were on track to add the most rigs in a quarter since crude prices plummeted two years ago, although the momentum has slowed as prices hold below $50 (£38.5) a barrel. Drillers added two oil rigs in the week to September 23rd, bringing the total rig count up to 418, the most since February.”

The pound is valued at €1.15.
