IKEA is to buy an onshore wind farm in Canada with a capacity of 88MW.
It will buy TransAlta’s 51% stake in the Wintering Hills wind farm for around CAD$61 million (£37m) and Teck Resources’s 49% stake for CAD$58.6 million (£35.6m).
The wind farm was commissioned in 2011 and consists of 55 turbines, generating enough electricity to power 35,000 homes.
The transaction is expected to close next month.
IKEA UK reported a number of sustainability successes in its last financial year.
