E.ON has started building its energy storage project in US.

The Texas Waves project is being built on the sites of the pre-existing Pyron and Inadale wind farms in West Texas.

The energy firm says the batteries, which will be directly connected to the wind farms and have a total capacity of 20MW, will be able to react quickly for the network operator to cope with changes in power requirements.

They are expected to go into operation by the end of the year.
