A mobile testing laboratory for solar PV modules claimed to be the first in India has been launched.

Mahindra Susten’s solution can be used by solar asset developers during the engineering, procurement and construction stages as well as operations and maintenance (O&M) operators at the location of their own plants.

The firm believes the lab would be “critical” across the lifecycle of a solar plant as early detection of the underperformance of modules can lead to immediate control of losses or redressal.

CEO Basant Jain said: “We at Mahindra Susten are key endorsers of the Government of India’s vision to transform India’s energy mix and to make it independent of fossil fuels, not just in terms of MW capacity installed but more in terms of contribution the MWh generated.

“The Solar Mobile PV Lab will allow the asset owners to check the performance of the PV modules over their lifetime and help to take immediate corrective action to improve generation, in case of underperformance.”
