Bracknell Forest Council given £425k to cut emissions in schools

The new funding follows the council’s commitment to achieving net zero by 2050 through its latest climate change strategy

Bracknell Forest Council has been awarded £425,000 to decarbonise schools.

The funding has been awarded through the Salix Green financing scheme and will allow the council to refurbish schools in the area, reducing their carbon emissions and energy usage.

The funding follows the council’s commitment to achieving net zero by 2050 through its latest climate change strategy.

Cllr Peter Heydon, Executive Member for Transformation and Finance, said: “This funding award will allow Bracknell Forest Council to install energy efficiency measures across our maintained schools and will help kick start our work on energy efficiency and the use of low carbon power sources, supporting the development of green skills and jobs in the borough.

“It will create significant carbon savings within the Bracknell Forest area, and be a major contributor towards our goal of being zero carbon by 2050.”
