Ex-civil service chief joins EDF

EDF Energy has appointed Sir Alex Chisholm as its new UK Non-Executive Chairman

EDF Energy has announced the appointment of Sir Alex Chisholm as its UK Non-Executive Chairman, starting on 15th July.

Sir Alex Chisholm has more than 20 years of experience managing organisations, including entrepreneurial ventures, regulatory bodies and government departments.

He most recently served as Chief Operating Officer for the UK Civil Service and Permanent Secretary in the Cabinet Office, a role he left in April 2024.

Before his government roles, he spent 12 years in business across the media, technology, e-commerce and retail sectors.

Simone Rossi, UK Chief Executive Officer of EDF, stated that Sir Alex’s extensive experience in both the private and public sectors would help guide the company as it addresses significant opportunities and challenges in ensuring the UK’s secure, low carbon and electric future.

Sir Alex said: “I am excited to be joining Great Britain’s leading provider of low carbon energy at a time of great change and opportunity in the energy sector. 

“EDF continues to invest in nuclear, wind, solar and battery infrastructure to offer customers secure, clean and affordable electricity.”
