Green energy company Ecotricity has joined forces with a home appliance brand to give away energy-saving kits to householders.
From this month, customers who buy an appliance from AEG’s ÖKO laundry range will receive a free energy kit, which is expected to help save more than 650kWh of energy every year.
The ÖKO range includes the ÖKOKombi Plus- claimed to be the first ever washer dryer to use heat pump technology, which enables lower drying temperatures compared to conventional machines and makes it 40% more energy efficient “than the current leading washer dryer”.
Ecotricity claims that combining the kits with upgrading a washer dryer to the ÖKOKombi Plus could save consumers up to 1,140 kWh or around £160 a year – reducing the average annual household electricity bill by up to 35%.
Dale Vince, Founder of the energy firm said: “Energy efficiency and green energy are really two sides of the same coin; providing a sustainable investment for both our businesses and our customers.”
AEG’s parent group Electrolux has set a target to halve it carbon footprint from around 50 million tonnes in 2005 to 25 million tonnes by 2020.
