The UK gas system has opened 22mcm long, according to npower’s daily market report.
Norwegian flows through the Langeled pipeline are at 70mcm.
An outage at Rough storage has reduced flows by 0.8mcm.
Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “Temperatures keep providing volatility on the markets as they are revised higher for next week. Yesterday forecasts were showing temperatures below seasonal normal, we are now expecting a few degrees above.”
On the power system, peak margins are above 10GW.
Wind is generating 4.4GW and is expected to remain around that level during the day.
CCGT generation is providing 41% of the stack and coal 18%.
The Dutch and French interconnectors are importing at full capacity.
Mr Guiot added: “Oil keeps testing its $30 per barrel (£20.7/bbl) level as Iran moved closer to boosting exports and exacerbating the global glut. Also yesterday US crude inventories rose for the 10th week through January 8th.”
