The UK’s Met Office will help Germany ensure the safe construction of wind projects.

It has signed new contracts to provide weather forecast services to support secure development and successful commissioning of two German offshore wind farms.

They will have a capacity of 332MW and 402MW each and are owned by Nordsee One and Veja Mate respectively.

They will be located in the south west of the German North Sea and are expected to be completed next year.

Hayley Wallbank, Met Office’s Head of European Business Development said: “We are delighted to have been selected to work in close partnership with Nordsee One and Veja Mate to provide timely and accurate forecasts which will help facilitate confident, safe decision-making during the construction of these large offshore wind farms.”
