The gas system is expected to close 30mcm oversupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

Sam Hill, from the Optimisation Desk said: “The length in supply is being driven by a return to form through the Langeled pipeline as some Norwegian supply disruptions end. The LNG tanker Rasheeda was scheduled to dock at South Hook yesterday, there are no further confirmed LNG tankers on the horizon.”

On the power system, solar generation is expected to peak 4.5GW.

Wind is providing only 1% of the energy mix while nuclear and gas-fired power generation are contributing 25% and 54% of the stack.

The French and Dutch interconnectors will import near full capacity.

Brent oil is trading at $47.54 (£36.6/bbl).
