The final bidders which will compete to own and run a £230 million transmission link to an offshore wind farm have been announced.

Ofgem has revealed the name of the five bidders for the Burbo Bank Extension offshore windfarm, situated in the Bay of Liverpool.

They are Balfour Beatty Equitix Consortium, Dalmore Capital Limited, Diamond Transmission Partners, Mari Energy Transmission and Transmission Capital Partners.

Last week, Balfour Beatty Equitix Consortium was granted a licence to own and operate an offshore transmission link to the 219MW Humber Gateway offshore wind farm.

The regulator expects to announce the preferred bidder for the Burbo Bank Extension project in April next year.

The future Offshore Transmission Owner will receive a guaranteed revenue stream for 20 years under the terms of their licence, subject to availability of the assets, Ofgem said.

Earlier this month, DONG Energy installed the first of the world’s largest turbines at the wind farm.
