A green energy firm and an electric vehicle (EV) charging point manufacturer have launched a new bundle deal.

Ecotricity and Rolec’s new energy tariff recognises EV drivers use more power than the average home and has created a new billing structure it says will save the average owner around £120 a year compared to Big Six deals.

Ecotricity customers can also benefit from a significant discount on a professionally installed home charging unit, which Rolec says can charge a vehicle up to 60% faster than a standard plug socket, saving around £180.

The companies say drivers will pay just 15p per unit of power when charging at public stations and while non-Ecotricity customers will pay 30p.

Dale Vince, Founder of Ecotricity, said: “Our ambition in doing this is clear – to make electric vehicle charging at home and on the road more simple, joined up and cost effective for existing and new EV drivers and in this way we hope to encourage more people to go electric.”
