Purpose:

To manage and lead on the product development lifecycle from conception to implementation. Chair the Product Development Board responsible for all new products that Haven bring to market. Responsible for assessing the viability of new products – supporting with market appetite analysis, and managing peers to deliver to strict project deadlines. Manage a team of Product Development Analysts specifically responsible for the delivery of Smart Metering products and propositions.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the management of the full delivery lifecycle of products in line with departmental standards
  • Ensure new products are developed and delivered on time and meet agreed SLAs and KPIs
  • Designing, agreeing and implementing processes for introducing new products
  • Work closely with seniors managers from Sales, Marketing, Customer Services and IT to ensure products are viable
  • Monitor performance of new product lines
  • Ensuring customers (both internal and external) are aware of – and understand – the offerings and are fully informed of any changes to the company’s product range
  • Management of all development risks and issues including identification of escalation points
  • Build and maintain strong and professional relationships with third party suppliers
  • For accepted products produce technical requirements to enable to relevant teams to implement them

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

Essential

  • Product development experience (ideally in the energy industry)
  • Knowledge of Smart Metering
  • Defines scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Plans, schedules, and tracks project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using appropriate tools
  • Ensures work is carried out to a high standard and complies with the company’s polices and guidelines
  • Develops clear and concise documentation to identify processes, problems, and action plans as well as design attractive and simple sketches, charts, diagrams, and other illustrative material to facilitate communication of complicated topics
  • Facilitates collaboration across multiple functions, departments, and levels and serves as a role model for teamwork
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and communicate technical concepts to non-technical clients
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding. Including of what makes business sense and of the commercial advantages and disadvantages of various products

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Energy Retail sector
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area
  • Project Management institute (PMI) certification preferred

  • Successful launch of new products and initiatives
  • Enhanced margins/customer numbers resulting from new products
  • Supporting other teams and areas of the business resulting in positive feedback
  • Adherence to product development timescales
  • Findings used as a steer for business decisions
