The energy giant has issued its first US dollar green bond, raising $2 billion with high investor demand

Proceeds will be used for the water company’s plans to install hundreds of kilometres of interconnecting pipes across the East and South East of England

The Chancellor will unveil details of green bonds that will allow people to invest in green projects

Proceeds will be invested to support projects that will bring more offshore wind to the grid

Around 22% of the funds came from residents in West Berkshire, who each invested an average of £3,500

The funds could be used to support the connection infrastructure of wind farms to the grid and boost efficiency to help reduce electricity losses

The bond has been certified as green by the UK Climate Bonds Initiative due to its expected contribution to reducing carbon emissions

It is part of a campaign to raise awareness for the critical need to protect and sustain water and ocean resources

The proceeds of the five-year green bond will finance investments in projects including renewable energy, green buildings and energy efficiency

It will support projects including renewable energy, energy efficiency as well as electrification of heat and transport
