The UK gas system is 5mcm long, according to npower’s daily market report.
That’s because flows from Norway have increased and exports to Belgium are set to slide.
Only one LNG cargo is expected to arrive into the UK today.
Alex Guiot from the Optimisation Desk said: “Nevertheless volatility is still present, resulting from the French nuclear outages. The French market is a very important driver during winter as it is connected via the 2GW interconnector.”
On the power system, CCGT is providing more than 21GW, making up 54% of the stack.
Wind generation is below 1.5GW and is forecast to drop during the day but is expected to increase during the weekend.
The fall in wind generation today will be compensated by coal plants out-turning 5GW.
The Dutch interconnector is importing near capacity while the French one will see its outage ending tonight after three weeks of maintenance.
