The gas system is 4mcm short, according to npower’s daily market report.

Norwegian flows are 10mcm higher than Friday’s at 17mcm. However, Dutch flows have dropped from 11mcm to zero.

Sarah Astley from npower’s optimisation desk said: “Planned maintenance at [Scottish terminal] St Fergus, which is due to last 15 days, has seen the UK Continental Shelf flows reduce by around 7mcm.”

The power system remains healthy with a forecast peak margin of more than 13GW.

CCGT is the highest contributor to the stack, followed by nuclear which has increased to nearly 8GW.

Wind power is currently generating 1GW.

Ms Astley added: “It is expected to remain around these low levels through the day and relatively low wind generation is also forecast for the rest of the week.”

Oil is currently trading roughly in line with Fridays’ levels at below $64 a barrel (£41.23/Bbl).

Ms Astley went on: “There is currently a storm developing which could impact production in the Gulf of Mexico.”
