The gas system is oversupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is currently forecast to close 6mcm long despite increased exports.

Langeled is nominated at 7mcm and Balgzand Bacton Line (BBL) flows are stable at 8mcm today.

Norwegian flows will pick up next week when maintenance on the Norwegian gas field Ormen Lange ends.

Gemma Bruce from npower’s optimisation desk said: “CCGT demand has fallen below 30mcm.”

Power demand should remain “healthy” until next week but “load factors are forecast to be poor throughout”, she added.

Both interconnectors continue to import at full capacity to the UK, which is helping balance the system given the low renewable feed-in.

Ms Bruce said: “The ongoing Greek saga continues to make headlines with a deal once again not secured between Greece and its international creditors.

“Another meeting has been set up for Saturday in a last ditch attempt to avert a default next week.”
