Leonardo DiCaprio’s foundation has raised more than $40 million (£25.6m) to protect the environment.

The organisation auctioned different items donated by the actor and other well-known faces such as singer Elton John and Prince Albert II of Monaco.

The foundation aims to protect wild places and implement solutions to preserve and save the environment.

It works in collaboration with environmental leaders and experts on protecting biodiversity, oceans, forest conservation and climate change.

The organisation claims to support more than 70 high-impact projects in more than 40 countries around the world.

Mr DiCaprio said: “We’ve decimated our forests, wild lands, polluted and over fished our rivers and oceans. All the key ecosystems that not only serve as a home to our planet’s biodiversity but also make life here for us possible.”
