The UK gas system is undersupplied, according to npower’s daily market report.

The linepack is forecast to close at 4mcm.

Flows through the Langeled pipeline are below 66mcm.

Sam Hill from the Optimisation Desk said: “Norwegian flows to the St Fergus terminal are also higher than those seen earlier this week. Storage facility withdrawals remain quiet with injections and maintenance continuing. South Hook LNG send-out is in line with nominations around 31mcm.”

On the power system the peak margin is under 12GW.

Wind generation dropped below 1GW and CCGT production has increased to 20GW providing 53% of the energy mix.

Brent oil is trading at $44/bbl (£30/bbl).

Mr Hill said: “Oil has remained bullish ahead of the US inventory announcements this afternoon, this is despite predictions that see stockpiles rising. The bullish sentiment is in anticipation of the OPEC production freeze discussions at the weekend.”
