A wave energy development group is seeking to appoint three new members to its Advisory Group.

Wave Energy Scotland (WES), a subsidiary of Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and fully funded by the Scottish Government, is looking for individuals with a proven track record in advising on project delivery, securing finance and understanding the industry.

These representatives are likely to come from the energy industry, investment and insurance communities or from academic backgrounds with marine renewable technology development experience.

The Advisory Group plays a critical role in supporting WES in achieving its objectives and wider Scottish efforts to develop the wave energy sector – new members will be directly involved in its strategic direction.

Advisory Group Chairman Steve Thomson said: “Joining the Advisory Group offers people a superb opportunity to contribute their expertise and get involved in an innovative and emerging industry that will help to keep Scotland leading this new sector.”

The EU has recently awarded €20.3 million (£17.61m) for a new tidal energy array to be built in Scotland.
