Speaker bios:

Sara Burgess – The Marketing Pod

Sara is an experienced PR, comms and content practitioner with nearly 20 years’ experience working at some of the Midlands’ leading agencies. Specialising in B2B and corporate comms, Sara has directed award-winning campaigns for clients across sectors including energy, construction, transport and manufacturing. With a passion for storytelling and securing stand-out results, Sara has delivered regional, national and international multi-channel campaigns spanning public relations, content, stakeholder, internal communications and social media.

Paul Curran – Word and Pixel

Since leaving the BBC where he worked for 23 years as a radio and TV reporter, Paul has run his own business creating  video and written content for organisations large and small. He’s now the Lead Creator at Word and Pixel.  Paul is also an experienced trainer. He has taught dozens of senior management teams how to handle interviews to ensure their key messages are the ones reported.

Hugh Davies – Warmer Comms

Hugh has spent much of his career working with businesses in the telecoms, media and technology (TMT) sectors. He has held senior in-house roles in these industries, as well as advising TMT companies and other major corporates during his time working for leading communications groups.  During his career he has been involved in, and led, the response to a range of crises, from data breaches to shipping disasters.  “A pandemic require similar thinking and many of the same skills,” he says.  “The massive difference is that everyone, literally everyone, has a role to play in this one.”  Hugh’s CV includes: Director of Corporate Communications at Three, the UK’s first 3G mobile operator, Head of Communications for Microsoft UK and senior positions at PR and advertising agencies including Hydra Strategy, Hill and Knowlton, Leo Burnett and Cohn & Wolfe.  He also runs his own consultancy specialising in effective corporate communications.
