What can we expect from the mini-Budget next week?

The government is expected to deliver a mini-Budget next Friday

Big Zero Report 2022

In what the government describes as a ‘fiscal event’, the Chancellor is set to reveal the priorities of the mini-Budget to address the challenges of the economy as energy prices remain volatile.

Delivering the mini-Budget, Kwasi Kwarteng is expected to reveal more details about the cap on energy bills and the support for businesses amid the cost of living crisis.

Most importantly, his budget statement is expected to explain how this package will be funded and how long this support will be provided to households and businesses.

In a video, published on his first day as Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng said: “Growth is clearly at the centre of what the Prime Minister is seeking to achieve.

“Dealing the energy crisis in the short term but also securing enough energy supply in the medium and long term is absolutely essential.”
