Business energy specialist GDF SUEZ Energy UK has been awarded two power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The PPAS were granted by BWSC East Anglia Limited and by Templeborough Biomass Power Plant Limited.
The first agreement is to buy electricity generated by the Snetterton biomass plant in Norfolk. which is operated by BWSC East Anglia Limited and generates 44.2MW renewable energy facility by mainly burning straw.
GDF SUEZ Energy UK will buy all of the 350GWh of electricity exported to the National Grid from the Snetterton plant each year.
This amount is enough to meet the annual needs of up to approximately 68,000 homes.
The second agreement is an identical PPA for the new Templeborough biomass plant in Rotherham which is expected to be commissioned in March 2017.
The 39.3MW plant will burn waste wood to generate 315GWh of electricity each year.
15-year PPAs have been agreed with GDF SUEZ Energy UK for both plants.
