There was confusion in Europe last night as Iran reportedly said it was halting oil exports to six of its major EU oil customers.

State media reports said yesterday the country had stopped oil exports to Greece, France, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy.

It would seem to be in retaliation against EU plans for an oil embargo which begins in July this year.

However an Iranian oil ministry spokesman appeared to deny the reports, saying only Iran’s Supreme National Security Council would announce that sort of news.
