A low noise, high efficiency fan system has been installed at a data centre in Germany.

Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems, through its brand RC, has supplied the units to cool the proRZ facility in Munich.

proRZ helps plan and develop data centres for other businesses – this one is owned by the company itself.

To satisfy the main requirement of reducing the sound created by the equipment, RC supplied two UNICO TURBO FL FREE water cooled chillers, offering a total cooling capacity of 1.8MW.

The system uses an increased number of fans running at a lower speed than usual, slashing the volume of noise they make. As they are not running at maximum capacity, this also reduces the energy consumption of the fans.

The supplier also provided 14 high density close control air conditioners, which offer high cooling densities in order to save space.
