Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to distributed energy resources market segment analysis
  • Develop and maintain multi-criteria technology assessments
  • Contribute to technology and innovation project delivery from initiation through to closure
  • Analyse data sets and lead feasibility studies and business case assessments
  • Develop Excel models for assessing data, calculating technical or business case performance
  • Contribute to reqs, scope and analysis for low carbon innovation and technology projects
  • Present and document compelling cases and pitch ideas to senior management
  • Understand and articulate technical and commercial challenges
  • Develop project concepts, including stakeholder, commercial and regulatory considerations, which clearly states problem, solution, timeframe, and resource requirements
  • Represent the department within external clients and conferences

Skills and Experience required:

  • Extensive experience in leading innovation and technology projects including energy storage, EV charging infrastructure and microgrids
  • Understanding of power systems, electricity markets, value from different distributed energy resources, I&C applications and the benefits of using smart grid technologies
  • Experience in energy storage and/or load management and network ancillary services
  • Experience in a consultancy environment
  • Experience working with unfamiliar data sets and performing intelligent data cleansing
  • Experience in techno-economic assessments
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to produce clear and logical written communication
  • Ability to understand, identify and assess business models for distributed energy resources
  • Willingness to mentor junior engineers and analysts
  • Understanding and/or experience in using optimisation techniques and related software
  • A proven record or project managing and delivering technical projects
  • Degree in engineering, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline
  • Chartered engineer or committed to working towards chartership
  • Postgraduate degree or equivalent
