Tesco is now stocking canned water as part of its move towards a more sustainable, plastic-free business model.
The supermarket is among the first large retailers in the UK to start selling CanO Water’s 500ml product, which costs £1.15 and aims to replace the plastic bottles widely sold and thrown away across the country.
The company says aluminium is “infinitely recyclable” compared to plastic, which can only be recycled up to 10 times due to deterioration in quality.
Each can is resealable and can be used as many times as the user requires.
CanO Water says once binned, a can can be reincarnated back into a new one on the shelf in just two months.
The average aluminium can is made from 68% total recycled content and can keep its contents colder and fresher for longer than traditional bottles.
