EBRD boosts Egyptian energy efficiency with $25m loan

The funding will benefit egyptian SMEs and households that want to invest in green projects

Renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Egypt are to secure a share of a new $25 million (£18m) loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The funding offered to the National Bank of Kuwait Egypt is expected to support Egyptian small and medium-size businesses and households.

The Green Climate Fund co-finances 15% of the total loan amount.

To date, the EBRD has invested €7.7 billion (£6.5m) in the country through 132 projects.
