ScottishPower expands heat pump network

As part of its initiative to introduce zero carbon heat technologies throughout England, Scotland and Wales, ScottishPower has enlisted Plug Me In as its second heat pump installation provider

ScottishPower has appointed Plug Me In as its second provider to install heat pumps, as part of efforts to expand zero-carbon heat technologies across the UK.

The move comes amidst a notable increase in demand, with government records showing a 39% rise in grant applications for heat pumps at the beginning of 2024.

The surge in demand is met with an increase in qualified heat pump installers, with numbers tripling in 2023 compared to the previous year.

ScottishPower’s installations, often benefiting from government grants, have exceeded two thousand over the last 18 months.

However, despite progress, the UK still lags behind other countries in heat pump adoption.

Robert McGaughey, Head of Smart Heat and Cities said: “As demand rises, driven by certainty for manufacturers and consumers alike, it is encouraging to see the transition to cleaner, electricity-powered technologies create new skilled green jobs at a time when many other sectors face significant challenges to their growth.”
